Luke's story

Auditory processing disorder (APD)

Luke dribbled a lot as a baby, didn't babble and at two spoke just 10 proper recognisable words. This was the start of a 10 year battle as he struggled to make sense of what he was able to hear, had difficulties with speech and his self-confidence and education suffered.

Cieran nearly died from meningitis B when he was a baby and still suffers the consequences today including profound deafness and epilepsy. Researchers are developing a vaccine against this infection.

Jack's story

Obstructive sleep apnoea

Jack was born with Down syndrome. His parents noticed problems with his breathing when he was nine weeks old. It took another two years for him to be diagnosed and treated for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).
