Experience the ultimate walking event
A PLOD is a team endurance walk, taking place through the night in some of the UK's greatest walking regions.
Starting at midnight, your team will navigate tough terrain in the dark using head torches. As day breaks you will be rewarded with stunning scenery. You will gain points for various tasks along your walk. This may be a stretch of orienteering, a 'King of the mountain pass' or just staying together as a team throughout the various checkpoints.
A PLOD is not for the faint-hearted and should not be perceived as a causal walk. Each event involves some tough terrain and inclines over a prolonged period. Towards the end you will feel tired but exhilarated by your achievement. Successfully completing a PLOD will be worth all of the effort.
A celebration dinner and prize giving rounds off your PLOD event where you can share anecdoates of your PLOD experience.
PLODs are very popular, with many teams returning year after year to best their previous best time. They are tough but great fun for all involved.
Help us make life better for sick and disabled children
PLOD participants will be helping to stop suffering in children. Every tough mile walked helps fund medical research to treat sick babies and tackle premature birth, to make life better for children with disabilities, and to target a group of rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.
See our list of overnight PLOD events for 2010.
