About the event
PLOD is the ultimate team endurance walking challenge. If you are looking for adventure, have decided it’s time to live life to the full, or just want to do something different in 2013, then this is the event for you!
PLOD is not for the faint hearted or the ill-prepared. We have designed a gruelling course that will probably push you further than you have ever been pushed before.
Set in the magical Mountains of Mourne, this PLOD is one of the most gruelling routes on Northern Irish terrain. Starting at midnight out of Tollymore Forest Park, many challenges lie ahead including the option to summit three peaks. With the beautiful Lough Shannagh also on your route, this tough and well supported event will test you to the limit.
Perfect for groups, friends or work colleagues. Companies looking to develop team bonding will benefit, and for those seeking an out-and-out challenge against their competitors, this event will deliver on all fronts.
We are all about pushing you to the limit. Join us to improve the quality of life for thousands of sick and vulnerable babies and children. We are able to achieve our goals by helping you achieve yours.

Event testimonials
Was nervous about doing this but I'm so glad I got a team together because it was the best time I've spent in the mournes. We all had a great time and I've spent a lot of time walking in the mournes because of it,I'm so glad they're on my doorstep.
Michael Graham (Captain)
June 2012I would just like to say how proud I am of my team and how we all handled the tougher than usual conditions in the Mournes!!! The weather in the lead up to the event was awful, but just as we drove into Newcastle the cloud broke and you could actually see to the top of Slieve Donard!!! The weather ended up perfect but didn't take away from the mudslides and fast flowing rivers we had to cross!! Taking all into account a very enjoyable event and a great achievement to complete!
I would like to say a very special thanks to Lee Pritchard, Lyndsay Cameron, Yvonne Cudworth and our Support Driver Chris Watson for being such a great team!!

June 2011I just wanted to say that I was very proud to have been part of the Iplod team, I had a fantastic time crawling up bloody bridge in the dark and Lough Shannagh in the rain, I would not have traded it for anything.
I look forward to next year either having a team in for the competition or being part of the marshall team. Once again thank you for your company and allowing me some precious moments in the glorious Mourne Mountains.
Brian Bell - Marshall/support staff
June 2009Thanks to all who I encountered through my 'journeying' around/through the Mournes.. it was good to talk to someone at each checkpoint and trade off a mars bar or a wine gum!! It made it easier going from one checkpoint to the next knowing that there was someone there (and I was at the right place!).
Looking forward to next year!!
Susan Hanna - Support driver Blue Eagle
June 2009Thanks for everything, we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, feeling a bit bruised and battered but chuffed with our finishing position. Congratulations to you and your team on a brilliantly run event. Looking forward to seeing the photos!
Best Wishes
Gerry
