The picturesque and ancient market town of Woodbridge in Suffolk provides both the starting and finishing points for the Suffolk Sunrise event.
The route follows mainly quiet roads allowing you to take in the breathtaking scenery and observe wildlife along the way.
At the 16-mile point we have two ferry boats waiting to take you and your bike across the River Deben to Bawdsey. After this five-minute trip, you’ll be back on your way.
We have five food and drink stops en route. Four on the 100-mile route and two on the 50-mile route. All refreshments are free to riders. Refreshments will be available to purchase at Woodbridge when you return. Toilets, showers and changing rooms are also available at Woodbridge.
It costs just £15 pounds to enter and that fee includes all refreshments at the drink stops, a medal and certificate at the end and an exhilaration that will numb the pain when you have completed the distance!
By taking part in the Suffolk Sunrise 100 you will be supporting our Touching Tiny Lives appeal which aims to help vulnerable mothers and babies. Action Medical Research relies entirely on voluntary donations.
'Our perception was that it was better signed than any ride we’ve done in the past.'
'The intermission for the ferry at the Deben is novel, maybe unique, and comes at a good point in the ride.'
'Although I’m local I thought the route was superb and showed off so many aspects of Suffolk.'
'The birdsong along the way lifted my spirits; I heard three separate nightingales singing along the coastal heath land and lots of other warblers such as white throat, willow warbler, chiffchaff and black cap.'
'When I arrived at Trimley the sun was actually rising over the sea to produce a silver ripple on the sea just for me! Or so it seemed! Using mainly lanes from the Suffolk cycle-ways was excellent. No cyclist likes using busy roads.'
