Corporate Partnerships

Today in the UK there are hundreds and thousands of sick and disabled children who need our help.

Action Medical Research finds and funds the best research to help these children saving lives and bringing life-changing benefits for expectant mothers, babies, children and young people.

Our experienced and skilled Corporate Partnership team would be delighted to work with your organisation so you too could make a difference to thousands of children and their families across the UK.  We will help you develop a tailor-made strategy that suits your organisation, meets your Corporate Responsibility goals and brings tangible benefits to you, your employees and your stakeholders.

Why Action

At Action we save and change children’s lives through medical research.

We believe that the diseases that devastate the lives of so many of our children can be beaten. We have been funding medical breakthroughs since we began in 1952 like the first polio vaccines, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine – helping to save thousands of children’s lives.

Surprisingly medical research to help children is poorly funded in the UK and Action has a critical job to do. The prospects for finding new cures and treatments are almost within our grasp.

We are currently funding vital research into premature birth, children’s cancer, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, Crohn’s disease, congenital heart disease, cerebral palsy, asthma, autism, ADHD and much more - but we need your help. We simply can’t fund it all.

Previous Partners

We are proud to have partnered with many companies in numerous different ways over the years, below are just a few. We are very grateful for their support in raising funds for vital children’s research.

Ways of working

Staff fundraising

We work with many companies, large and small, to encourage staff to get together and have some fun achieving some agreed fundraising goals. We are always here to support you - offering new ideas, advice, fundraising materials and plenty of other resources to help you succeed.

Challenge events

Action has an amazing portfolio of individual and team challenges which we can offer to your staff, from treks, runs, walks, bike rides, endurance walks and even a European driving adventure - there’s something for everyone.

In addition to offering high quality mass participation events across the UK for the past 20 years, Action is also experienced in working with organisations to design and deliver bespoke events tailored to their specific needs. We can offer route planning, health and safety and logistics.

Recent events have included private rides for Aon Benfield, Garmin and Willmott Dixon and in 2017 we launched our exclusive construction industry bike ride, Ziggurat.

Social events

Throughout the year we organise a number of fantastic lunches, dinners and other social events that we encourage our Partners to attend. Our gatherings include the Champions of CycleSport Dinner in London, Dine with Davina ladies lunch in Southampton, Killer Heels and Cocktails in Aberdeen and Glasgow, the Celebration of Motorsport in Northern Ireland and the Tony Hadley Golf Classic in Peterborough.

We work with our corporate partners to help you build positive brand awareness, increase customer loyalty and engage with new audiences.

We aim to create win-win partnership with sponsors, enabling Action to optimise fundraising potential whilst profiling brands to your targeted audience through face-to-face activity, product sampling, branding, and featuring on our website and in our communications.

We would be happy to discuss sponsorship packages around our events depending on your level of investment and priorities.

If you prefer to stage your own event we are experienced at working hand-in-hand with organisers of award ceremonies and company balls to incorporate a fundraising element into proceedings. We could assist with sourcing raffle and auction items, creative fundraising ideas, volunteer staffing and celebrity support on the evening.

Cause Related Marketing (CRM)

Cause related marketing, or on-pack promotions, provide a win, win, win situation for all involved - the business, Action and the customer. By associating your brand with a good cause you can ensure that you stand out from the crowd, as demonstrated with our partnership with Smeg UK.

To celebrate the appearance of one of Smeg’s iconic retro fridges in the first Paddington movie, Smeg donated £20 to Action from every FAB 28 fridge sold in a two month period. This activity alone raised over £7,500 for the charity and generated some fantastic coverage for both Action and Smeg UK.

Smeg UK's Brand Manager John Davies explains: "Action Medical Research was already Smeg UK’s chosen charity and as Action is Paddington Bear’s favourite charity and the fridge appeared in the new film, it seemed fitting that we joined up all of these activities to help raise more funds for this important cause."

Paddington Bear™

Paddington Bear has been at the heart of fundraising for Action ever since his creator, Michael Bond, met the charity’s founder, Duncan Guthrie, in 1976. Paddington Bear always likes to help wherever he can and so, after chatting over the matter with Mr Bond, he agreed to support Action as the charity’s official mascot. Paddington Bear’s friendly face has helped us attract thousands of new supporters who together have raised millions of pounds to help babies and children.

If you are interested in selling Paddington Bear pin badges in your retail outlets or in your reception area please contact us. Paddington Bear has also been known to visit the offices of our Partners to say thank you in person.

Corporate receptions

Each year Action holds private receptions to thank our corporate partners for their efforts. This is an opportunity to meet and chat with fellow partners and also hear from some of the most inspiring researchers we fund, undertaking groundbreaking work.

Previous events have been held at Buckingham Palace, The House Of Commons, Downing Street, the Walkie Talkie building, The House of Lords and The Royal College of Physicians, among others. Our patron, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, has always been pleased to meet and chat to those who have supported Action.  Other charity ambassadors including Fiona Bruce and Dermot Murnaghan have hosted events.

We welcome financial support to help fund vital research. Depending on the level of investment, donations can be directed to a specific study which may resonate with you, your staff or customers.

Your support is important to us and we are happy to show our appreciation by visiting your offices, awarding certificates, inviting you to one of our corporate receptions and profiling in our publications and website.

We are also always grateful for gifts in kind, from products to services, which enables Action to spend more money where it's needed, on research.

Other ways to support

Matched giving

Many employers in the UK offer matched giving schemes, topping up staff’s charity fundraising with a corporate donation. By matching pound-for-pound up to an agreed level your company sends a great message to employees, committing to fund medical research which can save and change children’s lives.

By recycling your empty inkjet cartridges you can help us save and change children’s lives. Recycling will cost you or your company absolutely nothing as all materials, postage and collection are entirely free.
