I am writing to tell your readers about the exciting Sporting Heroes of Wales charity dinner which I’m sure many will be interested in attending. To be held in the hallowed domain of the WREX Suite – Welsh Rugby Ex Players suite in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on 28th February, the dinner will benefit the leading charity, Action Medical Research.
It’s a great opportunity to join many of the top names from Welsh sport, past and present including rugby heroes JJ Williams, Rhys Williams and Ben Evans and athletics star, Lynn Davies. Hosted by BBC Wales’ presenter and Olympic Athlete, Angharad Mair other top names amongst the diners will include the swimmer David Davies and athlete Matt Elias.
‘Rugby great’ Mervyn Davies OBE, capped 38 times for his country and 9 times captain of the Welsh team, will be the after-dinner speaker. The evening will also include music from The Bridgend Male Welsh Choir and Welsh Harpist, Caroline Elvena Greenwood and will culminate in a Charity auction of sporting memorabilia.
This promises to be an amazing evening. We hope to raise over £10,000 to help the Charity search for answers to a whole range of illnesses and disabilities.
The Charity is currently funding a wide range of work across the UK. Through its breakthroughs, the Charity has benefited everyone in the UK. However, every year it has to turn down potentially life saving projects because it simply does not have enough money.
I hope your readers will support this dinner and join me for a celebration of Welsh sporting talent on the 28th February 2004.
