The Paddington Partnership is the body coordinating regeneration of the area around Paddington Station in London. The project covers an area almost the size of Soho, creating of about 10,000,000 square feet (930,000 m2) of space between 1998 and 2018.
For the past two years the partnership has chosen Paddington Bear’s favourite UK charity, Action Medical Research, as the beneficiary from the annual Dragon Boat Regatta.
The high-octane evening on Thursday 18 June was a huge success with a record 16 teams, four more than in 2014, battling it out on the water to be crowned champions. Action’s mascot Paddington Bear returned to his home turf as guest of honour, waving off the teams taking part in the contest in Paddington Basin.
Paddlers donned a range of exotic and hilarious costumes to take part, from minions and pirates to bananas and schoolgirls, and, after a number of nail-biting bouts, the winning team was adam&eveDDB.
The 2015 event increased the fundraising for the last two year to over £17,000.
