Our free will-writing service with a local solicitor

We’re on a mission to save and change children’s lives through medical research, developing treatments, vaccinations and cures. You can support this vital medical research by making or updating a simple will for free through our partners, the National Free Wills Network.

You will be matched with a local participating solicitor to discuss and prepare your will. The National Free Wills Network includes over 800 participating solicitors. Once you have submitted your details, you will be sent an information pack in the post. The pack will include a list of six local solicitors to choose from, usually within a five mile radius of your home. You can then speak to one of the solicitors close to you to arrange how to make or update your will.

If you would prefer to make or update your will for free online, please click here for more information from our partner, Farewill.

There is no obligation to leave a gift to Action, and we know that you will want to take care of family and friends first, but we hope you will consider it. A gift in your will could lead to treatments, vaccinations and cures that change the world forever for children and their families.

What is the National Free Wills Network?

The National Free Wills Network is an organisation who have teamed up with over 800 local solicitors across the UK and 140 charities to make it easy for people to leave a gift in their will to their chosen charity. You can find out more about the National Free Wills Network here: https://www.nationalfreewills.net/

Where will the solicitor be located?

The National Free Wills Network will send you a list of the six closest participating solicitors. On average, there should be a participating solicitor within five miles of your home. You can then choose a solicitor from the list to contact and arrange an appointment.

Who pays the solicitor’s fee?

Action Medical Research will pay a discounted fee to the solicitor through the National Free Wills Network. Solicitors who are part of the National Free Wills Network offer the participating charity a reduced rate to write a simple will for the charity’s supporters. All solicitors act exclusively in the interests of their client and not the charity.

Do I have to leave a gift to Action in my will?

No, you do not need to leave a gift to Action in your will. It is your choice whether you wish to do so or not.
